MBA insurance in recession: study

unemployment

An MBA degree from a top-ranked business school comes with more than a key to the executive washroom. A study released Tuesday suggests it might also provide some immunity against economic uncertainty.

The study by research group Catalyst looked at how “high-potential” employees-MBAs from top business schools around the world–fared as the global economy tanked.

The study found that 57% of the high-potential employees studied had either received a promotion or had some other kind of career development opportunities in the midst of the downturn, either at their own companies or in a new workplace. It also found that 31% of women, and 36% of men, reported a promotion or a lateral move between November 2007 and June 2009.
